Advancing Design, Engineering and Production
As we became increasingly demanding on our production partners to provide more advanced molds, assemblies, audio components,
etc., we soon realized the sky was the limit. If I was able to dream something up, we could get it made. It might take a lot of
time and experimenting, but in the end, we could innovate and continue to raise the bar on commercial audio speakers and their
installation. After creating the category of hanging “pendant” speakers, we moved into outdoor speakers, with application-specific
in-ground speakers designed to stand up to the demands of theme parks. We tested our product’s durability by lowering a Range
Rover onto the speaker to prove to our customers that their visitors couldn’t do the damage that they were experiencing with
our competitors’ products. We then created a line of ceiling mount speakers that took performance and ease of installation to
new heights with hardware that was more Formula One than those bought in retail chain stores. For our entry into the “wall
mount” speaker category, I wanted design to match our sound quality, and I wanted installation to be a wholly new experience for
the technicians who spent their days and weeks installing one commercial venue after another. Imagine you are the installer for
Starbucks: given their opening new stores on a daily basis, you’d never stop wiring and mounting speakers. I wanted more speed
and simplicity, so we created a “quick-release” style mounting system that allowed installers to clamp the speaker onto a ball with
one hand and no tools, and that was just one of our features! – DW
