Lots of Glass and Metal
I really got into the furniture thing, and once again, applied “need” to some of my designs. I needed a good design table so why
not create something great rather than buy something boring. I got into cutting and bending big sheets of steel and aluminum.
I was also inspired by the idea of using heavy glass pieces in my furniture. Between trips to my favorite welding shop, where the
owners let me work away as if I was one of the team, and the Brooklyn glass supplier who could cut and polish whatever shape I
needed, I was limited only by my imagination–and my budget! Suddenly, my pieces were getting the attention of design magazines
and showrooms. I was traveling with furniture around the country, finding outlets for my creations. It was unbelievable and exciting
when my products were featured in magazines, stores and shows, alongside the Memphis works of Ettore Sottsass, Michael Graves,
and Michele de Lucchi. – DW
