Ski Headwear
The ideas for my ski headwear came from a life-long love of skiing and the notion that existing ski hats and headbands needed a
serious change. In the late 80’s and early 90’s, most hats and headbands looked the same. I had been tinkering with some new
ideas and making samples to test. Along came Howard Rubin, the Founder of Kombi ski gloves. Kombi was a major player in
the marketplace and Howard was a wild guy. He could relate to my unusual ideas and designs. Howard funded the program and
we launched the “Kombi by David Wiener” line of ski headwear and sweatshirts. The designs proved to be a bit too far ahead of
their time and the market stuck to the conventional fleece and knit caps and three-inch wide headbands. Oh well...I tried. – DW
